Motivation Monday

Just loved this image I found on MusicNotes.com‘s twitter page… definitely printing this out for a little “studio bling” this week!

What Are We Doing This Week?

First and foremost, my students and I will start filling out our 2017 Goal Sheets for Music Students & Teachers this week. (It’s a free PDF download that can be used at any time of the year! make sure you check it out  🙂 )

Teacher Tip: Don’t let students feel overly pressured to write down all their goals in one week. Maybe they just want to start with one goal! Once they complete that goal, they can figure out another one.

We’re also starting a 30 Piece Challenge. Normally these challenges start at the beginning of the school year, but I’ve decided to adapt it to start now and run through the end of summer.

To make this 30 Piece Challenge achievable, I’m putting together some leveled collections from the dozens of studio licensed books/pieces that I’ve gathered over the years.

Rather than only focusing on pieces that they learn in their method book, students will have the opportunity to “knock out” several pieces in a week — these pieces will be geared towards a sight-reading level so that students can focus on phrasing and dynamics.

What Are YOU Doing This Week?

Are you working on yearly goals? Making changes in your studio? Starting a new incentive program? Let me know in the comments!
