Keeping Track of E-Receipts

Keeping Track of E-Receipts

It’s easy to lose track of digital receipts. They can quickly get hidden in the daily slew of emails or accidentally trashed/archived when you’re in a hurry.

(Don’t even get me started about the darn spam folder.)

Tracking e-receipts can be a pain!

But it’s important.

We purchase so many things online nowadays — music from your favorite composers, Iwako erasers from Amazon, studio subscription services and apps! The list goes on and on and on…

If you don’t have a process in place for filing your e-receipts, it’s quite possible that your email account is losing your business money.

Let that sink in for a second, because it’s true.

When we forget to file e-receipts, we are literally losing money.

Business related expenses need to be carefully tracked and deducted from our income at the end of the year.  Otherwise you end up paying more taxes than you need to! (Yuck.)

These expenses add up.

That’s why it’s important for you to have a solid filing system for all those physical and digital receipts.

This 3-step process only takes a few minutes each week:

  1. Keep your e-receipts unread. This makes them easier to find later when you need to file them.
  2. Track your expenses with a system like My Music Staff or Quickbooks. Enter each individual receipt!
  3. File the e-receipt into a folder called “2019 Studio Receipts” or something fancy. You can also print and file a physical copy.

To learn more about this process, check out the video below. This is just one of many on my  New FB Page.  This page is all about business and mindset tips… and I really hope you’ll give it a like. And if Instagram is your thing, you can follow me here
